About Marksmith Forge

Marksmith Forge is a free desktop application that converts Markdown into supported document formats. It is designed to operate locally and offline, contains no advertising, requires no account, and does not collect user data.

License

Marksmith Forge is proprietary, closed-source software. Subject to these terms, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use it for personal, academic, or commercial purposes. Ownership of the application and source code is not transferred to you.

Intellectual property

The application, branding, logo, design, source code, and other original materials are owned by Christos Polimatidis, except for third-party components under their respective licenses. Free availability does not place Marksmith Forge in the public domain.

Unless applicable law permits it, you may not sell or sublicense the application, claim ownership, remove ownership notices, distribute modified versions as official releases, or use the branding to falsely imply endorsement.

Your documents

You retain ownership of documents, images, and other content you use with Marksmith Forge. The application does not claim ownership of your content. You are responsible for having the rights needed to use and distribute materials included in your documents.

Generated documents

Document conversion may produce formatting, pagination, font, layout, or viewer differences, particularly for unsupported content. Review exports before relying on, publishing, printing, submitting, or distributing them.

No warranty

Marksmith Forge is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law. There is no guarantee that it will be error-free, support every document, remain compatible with every future system, or produce identical results in every viewer.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar damages arising from use or inability to use the application, including loss of files, work, data, profit, or business continuity. Nothing excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Local files and backups

You are responsible for maintaining backups and choosing appropriate save locations. Marksmith Forge is not a backup or archival service.

Third-party components

Bundled third-party libraries remain subject to their respective licenses and copyright notices. Their inclusion does not make Marksmith Forge itself open-source software.

Updates and termination

Updates may add, change, improve, or remove features, without a guarantee of an indefinite release schedule. Permission to use Marksmith Forge may end if you materially violate these terms.

Changes and governing law

Updated terms will be published with a revised effective date. These terms are governed by the laws of Greece, without limiting mandatory consumer protections in your jurisdiction.
